Turkey Tail Points

Over-all form is wide, thin blade tapering to prominent points at both ends

Small, triangular base defined by side notches

Base quite small in proportion to overall point size

Often made from high quality gray Wyandotte chert from southern Indiana

Sometimes found in caches, or deposits, of up to 200 specimens, most of which have been intentionally broken

Size: 3½ to 6 inches long

Late Archaic,Early Woodland:
ca. 1500-500 BC
