OPLIN 4cast Podcast #16: Code4Lib Conference Report

Posted in 4pod, and biblios.net

Last week, OPLIN Director Stephen Hedges attended the Code4Lib 2007 Conference at the University of Georgia. Code4Lib started as a mailing list, focusing on the discussion of computer programming in the area of libraries and information science. From that mailing list, a website developed, and a community of library programmers grew around the site. Last week’s conference marked the second annual Code4Lib Conference, indicating that it will very likely continue in future years.

The Code4Lib organizers did not want to host a “talking-heads” conference, where attendees sit and passively listen to presenters. Code4Lib attendees are expected to be active participants in the conference, and this week’s OPLIN 4cast Podcast looks at some of the ways that happened.
